Devdip Ganguli
Faculty at the Sri Aurobindo International Centre of Education (Pondicherry) and Doctoral Scholar-cum-Adjunct Faculty at the California Institute of Integral Studies (San Francisco), Devdip Ganguli works on the philosophical and hermeneutic dimensions of Sri Aurobindo's texts, with particular attention to the relation between consciousness, spiritual practice, and modes of knowledge. He teaches courses in Contemplative Research, Integral Yoga Philosophy, and Yoga Psychology.
In parallel, his research engages broader questions in the philosophy of consciousness, examining how insights from Integral Yoga may enter into dialogue with contemporary debates on mind, cognition, and emerging technologies. This includes a sustained critical reflection on the limits of computational and reductionist models of consciousness in light of more integrated ontological frameworks.
He has taught philosophy for over twenty years and has presented internationally, including at the École normale supérieure (Paris), Peking University, the China Academy of Art (Hangzhou), Shenzhen University, and at the 25th World Congress of Philosophy (Rome). He has curated the works of the Chinese artist-scholar Xu Fancheng for a virtual reality exhibition at New York University-Shanghai. Devdip is the co-editor of Reading Sri Aurobindo (Penguin Random House, 2022), which presents a range of scholarly approaches to Sri Aurobindo's work and its contemporary relevance. Devdip is also a member of the research group on Sri Aurobindo “Archives et écritures de la philosophie contemporaine” at ITEM, ENS, Paris.
